The purpose of this document is to fulfil the requirements to get necessary environmental clearance from the Environmental Protection Agency to carry out the proposed harbour redevelopment project, Kaafu Atoll. The proponent of this project is MT Højgaard, Denmark. The project involves maintenance dredging a 2,500 sq m area within the harbour basin at a depth of -3.0 m MSL and, construction of a harbour breakwater and a revetment. The breakwater and revetment will be constructed using armour rock. In addition, the shallow areas within the existing channel may have to be dredged, depending on availability of funding. A 45 m section of the existing damaged breakwater wall will be demolished. The proposed redevelopment foot print includes a large portion of seagrass bed and very few live corals.
