EPA today has acted upon three complaints that we received today. In this regard the following actions were taken:

1.    Medianet Antenna Villingili: EPA received complaints that the foundation work for the Antenna was undertaken without approval through the EIA process or the dewatering approval. Medianet was asked to stop the works immediately and to provide information on how and why the project was carried out without approval.

2.    Usfasgandu Jetty: EPA was informed through media outlets and through public complaints that a temporary jetty was constructed in the Usfasgandu area without EPA approval. City Council was asked to remove the structure then and now and inform EPA of why this was undertaken without the required approvals.

3.    B.Dharavandhoo Airport Project: EPA received complaints that the reclamation works in B.Dharavandhoo were undertaken by Coastline Investments without proper mitigation measures such as establishing a silt screen which was specified in the project EIA. The proponent was asked to stop work immediately and that approval for commencement of work can only be given once the silt screen has been established at the dredging and reclamation locations.
