Today EPA has held the first public hearing under sub-regulation 10(7) of the EIA Regulations 2007, in Male’ City Hall. This hearing concerns the Solid Waste Management project for the greater Male’ area proposed by TATVA Global Renewable Energy (Maldives) Pvt.Ltd (TGREM). The hearing was organized in association with the project proponent TGREM and Male’ City council. Around 50 members from the general public attended this hearing. Questions from the public regarding the project were addressed by a panel of experts, which included representatives from EPA, Privatization Committee, Waste Corporation, Thilafushi Corporation, Male’ City Council, EIA consultants (CDE) and the project proponent (TGREM).
